Sr. Acquisition Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Acquisition Specialist will provide Procurement/Acquisition Support Services for a variety of program support functions related to the General Administration (GSA), Federal Acquisition Services (FAS), Southwest Supply and Acquisition Center’s (SSAC) mission. This position will support tasks to assist in all efforts associated with the processing of new and existing Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contracts, Supply contracts, or any other Blanket Purchase Agreement contracts managed by SSAC. Responsibilities will include the exercise of options, performance and financial responsibility recommendations, contract administrative duties, and contract closeouts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistance with developing contract modifications:

  • Assist GSA Contracting Officers (CO) and Contract Specialist (CS) with performing the functions such as, but not limited to the following:
    • Assist the CO/CS with review modification requests for completeness and evaluate IAW the applicable solicitation and SSAC’s processes and procedures.
    • Assist with corresponding with contractors regarding mod requests (i.e. assist with providing status updates, request supporting documentation, etc.)
    • Assist and support CO/CS on execution or rejection of MODS to the MAS, and Supply.
    • Assist the CO/CS by making appropriate updates to the eMod system as needed for final CO execution.
    • Assist with drafting other required internal documentation for MODS (e.g. Memorandums to the File) for MAS and Supply Contracting Officer review and approval.
    • Assist CO/CS with updates to the contract files with the mod documentation.

 

Assistance with Contract Administration support services:

  • Assist GSA Contracting Officers (CO) and Contract Specialist (CS) with performing the functions such as, but not limited to the following:
    • Assist the CO/CS with researching contract history in preparation for option.
    • Assist CO/CS by gathering option compliance and sales data.
    • Assist the CO/CS with GSA contractors by providing instructions to complete option packages.
    • Assist with ensuring option documents are submitted timely.
    • Assist CO/CS in the preparation of recommendations for MAS and Supply contracts.
    • Assist the CO/CS with drafting approval documents and letters.

Assistance with time sensitive special projects:

  • Assist GSA Contracting Officers (CO) and Contract Specialist (CS) with various special projects by performing the functions such as, but not limited to the following:
    • Assist the CO/CS with reviewing workload trackers and updating internal spreadsheets with in-process status.
    • Assist the CO/CS with removal of any Authorized Negotiators that are suspended or debarred.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years of procurement acquisition.
  • Possesses documented experience in and working knowledge of acquisition as it relates specifically to government/defense procurement programs.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing at a technical level.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and provide technical acquisition related consultation/guidance regarding the specific requirements defined in a particular procurement package.
  • Should be familiar with FAR and other government agencies supplemental procurement regulations.
  • Ability to prepare contracting documentation for the customer that requires research and interpretation of evolving government regulations, policies, guidance and laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks at the same time.
