Human Resources Training Technician
Position Scope:
Under general direction from the Human Resources Supervisor or their designee, will be responsible for organizing, facilitating, and delivering training programs for respite program staff.
Essential Duties:
- Plan, organize, and effectively conduct onboarding, orientation and employee training on various skill, policy, and compliance areas (e.g. Sexual Harassment, Safety, etc.).
- Facilitate delivery of training by reserving and setting up needed audiovisual equipment and training rooms; scheduling training times with attendees; preparing and distributing training aids such as handouts; and performing other related tasks.
- Assist with development of and maintain a company-wide training calendar; track required initial and refresher training schedules.
- Track trainee changes: utilize historic information to ensure employees are attending proper trainings at appropriate times.
- Track, record and follow up on all training in designated database.
- Periodically assist with evaluating existing or proposed programs; suggest and implement suitable changes.
- Identify training and development needs within the organization.
- Review feedback with Training Supervisor monthly (allow enough time for evaluations to be completed and accept feedback given).
- Prepare training materials (presentations, collateral/materials, roster, etc.).
- Prepare and distribute reports to HR Generalist regarding completion of trainings for their program and alpha split.
- Maintain up-to-date instructor certification requirements for CPR, First Aide, etc.
- Provide support in scheduling, planning, organizing, arranging training topics (i.e. schedule trainer and/or develop training materials and/or train), executing and monitoring Quarterly Meetings for Respite Care Providers.
- Work collaboratively with the Training Supervisor to administer service during the quarterly training.
- Manage and maintain in house training areas and equipment.
- Ability to function appropriately with the designated respite system & any other related payroll system; ensuring HR related information is entered and maintained accurately.
- Continuously strive to provide excellent customer service, interpersonal communication and serve as a source of accurate information.
Secondary Duties:
- Assist in other administrative areas of the organization when needed.
- Periodically attend mandatory meetings at the regional center, vendor meetings, job fairs and other recruitment venues for respite care providers.
- At times may be assigned to conduct field training.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Two-year Degree in Human Resources or related field (2 years of experience may be substituted for 1 year of post-secondary education).
- At least 2 years of experience in training or a related field.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English & Spanish (Bi-lingual Required).
- Ability to type 30 wpm and do basic business arithmetic.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; the ability to change communication style to relay information based on the learner.
- Excellent time management skills, public speaking skills, problem-solving skills and both verbal and written communication skills.
- Practical application of MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word for Windows required.
- Ability to use standard office machines such as a personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, etc.
- Valid California Driver's License.
Physical Requirements: Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal and telephone communication. Ability to sit for long periods, standing, computer entry, walking, repeated bending, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs, reaching. Ability to travel within and outside the county as needed.
Environmental Requirements: Must be able to work indoors in a predominately sedentary position. Wide range of physical motion required to include bending, twisting, standing, walking, carrying boxes and supplies, sitting for long periods of time, answering the telephone, using hands to type and enter data and perform a wide range of office and clerical duties. Also, must be able to greet staff members, participants, and community members in a pleasant and professional manner on a consistent basis. Must consistently maintain composure and meet office challenges with maturity, objectively and strive to always deliver the utmost in customer service.
Scheduling and Availability: Working hours generally are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday with an hour for lunch. Employee must be willing to work overtime when requested and willing to assist other departments during staffing shortages as needed. Position is 40 hours per week.
