3rd Shift Quality Technician (Temp to Perm After 3 Months)

We are seeking a 3rd Shift Quality Technician to join our Quality team in Newburyport, MA at Dianne's Fine Desserts, a subsidiary of Dessert Holdings.

- Sunday – Thursday
- 12:00 am to 8:30 am (Some flexibility may occasionally be required)
- $22 - $26 /hr (DOE) PLUS 3RD SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL OF $2.25/hr

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a food or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus!
- Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite computer experience required.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with others.
- Knowledge of baking and finished products preferred.
- Team-oriented approach to problem solving and troubleshooting, with strong communication and teaching skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented skills required.
- Knowledge of food safety issues, GMPs and other requirements in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must be able to perform basic math skills.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions and process of the job.
- May be required to work overtime from time to time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow Company Food Safety Plan, follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Provide guidance for employees on proper food safety and handling practices, addressing any deficiencies by coaching personnel to establish compliance.
- Recognize food safety incidents, report to management, and control situation with documented corrective action.
- Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure that the processing equipment and the processing environment are ready, to the designed expectations, to manufacture food. The scope of the Pre-Op includes but is not limited to, ensuring that the process line and operators are GMP compliant, equipment is clean and the area is properly 5S before manufacturing can begin.
- Participate in the post-clean inspection program through visual inspection of equipment to ensure cleanliness and verification of cleanliness by ATP swabbing and through the release of only clean equipment, as established by procedure, to Production. Work closely with Sanitation department to address any deficiencies and ensure equipment is re-cleaned and tested before release to production.
- Verify that each production line is properly set up, using correct standards for each product, and correctly completes all required reporting documentation.
- Verify monitoring equipment such as metal detection and weight check are performing properly during the shift with a verification step.
- Monitor production to ensure all ingredients and supplies are properly stored and labeled.
- Monitor temperatures of coolers and freezers during shift.
- Monitor finished product temperatures out of ovens.
- Perform and record EMP swabbing as needed, per procedure.
- Manage weekly EMP swabbing plan on rotating basis.
- Perform and record allergen swabs as needed, per procedure.
- Perform and document equipment calibrations (i.e., scale, thermometer).
- Perform Sensory evaluations on finished products.
- Collect samples of ingredients, WIP, finished product as needed for analysis.
- Perform monthly glass and brittle plastic audit, quarterly painted surface audit, and participate in the monthly GMP audit for the facility..
- Perform daily quality audit and follow up with the necessary personnel for corrective actions.
- Responsible for properly and safely using equipment and ensuring it is suitable for safe use.
- Responsible for proper documentation/recordkeeping for all food safety and quality activities as required by the food safety plan.
- Work with all associates to maintain a state of inspection readiness at all times.
- Any other duties as required by Quality Assurance Supervisor, Manager or senior leadership.
