IT Specialist (24/7 Packaging Facility)

SUMMARY:

The IT Specialist plays a critical role in managing technology-based systems and providing comprehensive end-user support for PCs, laptops, telecom, access control, and surveillance systems. This position is responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of the facility’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and related systems, to ensure uninterrupted operation in a 24/7 environment. Additionally, the role may involve supporting industrial automation and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, with prior experience in PLC being highly desirable.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• End user support:  Desktop/Application/Telecom support both in person and virtually.
• Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain servers, including hardware and software updates. Ensure high availability and security of critical IT systems.
• Networking: Design, deploy, and troubleshoot network solutions, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• System Monitoring: Monitor system performance and address issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Escalate problems as needed to vendors or specialized support.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Communication: Monitor, read, and respond to email communications promptly.
• On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support as needed in a 24/7 operational setting.
• Other:
  • Comply with FDA, USDA, and GMP policies.  Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Food Safety, and cost objectives.  Comply with all standard operation procedures and requirements under PRCP Quality System.
  • Participate in quality improvement process.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology and Computer Science.
• 3+ years of experience in server administration and networking.
• Proficiency in configuring and maintaining servers, network devices, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN configurations.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with industrial automation and PLC systems.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft Server certifications.
