Orientation Coordinator

Summary

The Orientation Coordinator is accountable for the successful orientation completion of future contracted drivers for ATS. This role serves as the facilitator of on-boarding activities to create a learning environment for future contracted drivers of ATS. The training content includes Safety, Operational and DOT standards.  The future contracted drivers must achieve all training standards prior to becoming a representative contracted driver for ATS.

Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma required and 2-4 years of experience in a customer-driven environment preferred.
  2. 2-4 years of training facilitation experience (highly desirable)
  3. Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation safety regulations is preferred.
  4. Demonstrated presentation skills to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from large groups.
  5. Experience in developing strong relationships (personal/practical needs) to effectively manage, plan, and prioritize workload.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish trust and rapport with all levels of staff.  Able to relate effectively to diverse cultures.
  7. Strong planning and problem-solving skills; able to identify and resolve problems promptly.
  8. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Must be able to think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects.
  10. Strong attention to process and detail.
  11. Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently.
  12. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  13. Must be able to demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff.
  14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  15. Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Will prepare the orientation documents required for each new driver and coordinate weekly new driver orientation class schedules.
  2. Provide training and orientation materials at all driver orientation sites.
  3. Facilitate and ensure the setup and completion of pre-employment testing, including but not limited to road tests, physicals, drug screens, simulator training, etc.
  4. Present a variety of training materials in a classroom environment including presentations and handouts.
  5. Ensure the quality, timeliness, and consistency of the driver orientation experience.
  6. Continuously strive to improve Driver orientation by asking questions, looking for ways to reduce redundancies in training, and listening to feedback. 
  7. Work with internal departments to review, coordinate, and recommend modifications as needed to enhance presentations and flow.
  8. Compile feedback from instructors on driver candidates, reviewing problems/concerns with Safety, Operations, and Recruiting departments as needed.
  9. Coordinate the training of selected topics with the corresponding departments (i.e., Safety, Settlements, and Operations).
  10. Understands and consistently performs in accordance with ATS Mission, Vision, and Values.

  12. Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed.
  13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This position performs work primarily in an office setting.

  1. Constantly in a stationary position and occasionally will move around.
  2. Constantly operates a keyboard and mouse and constantly utilizes a computer monitor(s).
  3. Conversing with internal and external customers in person or via phone system.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $22.50 - $27.50.  Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work . In addition to the hourly rate of pay, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.
