Software Tester

SCI Summary: SCI supports people with disabilities, behavioral challenges, medically complex needs, transitioning youth, the elderly, and other populations using Maryland Department of Health's Targeted Case Management and Supports Planning work models as well as a concierge level geriatric care management and care partner model.
 

Position Summary: The Software Tester role is a key role in the delivery of business solutions within the Enterprise Project Management Team. Working in partnership with various functional areas and technical teams within the organization, the Software Tester will be responsible for understanding, documenting and verifying functional, technical and data requirements within enterprise solution implementations and enhancements.

Essential Duties:
• Responsible for validation and traceability of functional and data requirements through application systems, vendor implementations, operational procedures and training
• Documenting testing processes, writing test plans and holding traceability reviews to ensure business requirements.
• Perform Functional, Integration, Regression, Parallel and End-to-End testing as needed within project implementations.
• Capture documented test cases, results and tracking defects/issues with relevant descriptions of the issue with detailed steps to replicate.
• Set up test data sets and oversee data control within shared test environments.
• Work directly with Sr. Business Analyst & Subject-Matter Experts to understand the business and data needs and to capture with traceabitlity within Requirements, Business Procedures andTest Plan Documents.
• Work directly with Sr. Business Analyst, Developers and any Vendor Professional Services to understand the implementation of business needs and data integrity within end-to-end technical solution.
• Work directly with User Acceptance Testers to ensure functional test coverage and timeliness to resolution of findings prior to Solution Implementation. When testing is completed and signed off by all parties, this position may assist in user training.
• Becomes equally knowledgeable in all crossfunctional business processes and data interelationships
• Detail oriented with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills that can assist with identify process gaps, recommend alternatives and bring to resolution during root cause analysis.
• Use metrics and data analysis to demonstrate impact, insights and to monitor solution quality
• Participate in enterprise project lifecycle in activities such as Business Case Development, Requirements Capture, Proof of Concept, Validation Testing, Implementation, Procedure or Training Development
• Clear, proficient communicator able to engage all levels of seniority and project experience
• Contributes to solution effectiveness and data governance using data indicators and measurements.
• Develops SCI Expertise/Applies Relevant Industry Expertise to advance business goals. Optimized end-to-end data flows and data models consistently.
• Supports Enterprise Project Management departmental goal of excellent service delivery by standardization, simplification, collaboration and optimization of processes and operations.

Education Required:
• BS/BA in Information Systems, related field required or 6 years in related/similar industry experience.
 

Experience Required:
• Software Testing: 6 years (Required)
• Healthcare and/or Corporate Business Systems: 2 years (Preferred)
• Proficiency with requirements management tools e.g. Visio/Lucid, JIRA, Testing Tools (Required)
• Proficiency with SQL, Power BI (Preferred)

Physical Demands: Generally, presents standard office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position >95% of the time. Continually operates a computer, keyboard and mouse, and other
office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and mobile Smartphone device. Constantly positions self to comfortably maintain computer equipment. May occasionally be required to move about in an office setting or position office equipment weighing between 10-25 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
IT Roles must be able to position self to maintain computers and equipment, including under desks and in server room(s). Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
