Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Amphenol Spectra-Strip is a leader in hyper scale data center bulk wire solutions. We develop and manufacture gigabit copper cable solutions for high performance and cloud compute applications. We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Hamden, CT.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards of the business. Utilization of skills to continuously improve the manufacturing process eliminating wasteful activities. Individual is expected to interact in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams in Hamden and global facilities to achieve business goals. The candidate must be open to being mentored while continually drive to perform to maximum potential.

  • Communicate effectively while spending most of the time hands-on in the production floor working with the team to learn, solve process issues, reduce scrap levels, and continuously improve.
  • Learn, maintain, and improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Aim to become the technical leader for the assigned areas.
  • Develop assembly line and processes, write work instructions.
  • Design, test, and deploy tooling and automation.
  • Work closely with external suppliers and manufacturers on new equipment and processes
  • Prepare equipment and systems specifications.
  • Understand process step cycle times, efficiencies, yields.
  • Be an agent of change in a fast paced, diverse environment.
  • Participate in DFMs, FMEAs and risk assessment activities.
  • Work with team to define critical product/process parameters relating to product documentation nominals and tolerances and they are related to process functions.
  • Evaluate Safety and Occupational risk.
  • Propose and implement cost reduction activities.
  • Be coachable and open to constructive feedback.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 0-5 years of work experience in a fast paced, fully automated environment, in the high-speed cabling industry preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to solve technical problems and deal with a variety of variables where only limited standardization exists with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and relay manufacturing information across continents.
  • Working knowledge of solid modeling tools, (Creo, Solid Works, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite of products (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze situations, identify cause, and effect relationships.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and/or Mandarin preferred.
  • Experience in automation equipment, mechanically inclined
  • Lean manufacturing experience or exposure to lean concepts is a plus.
