Team Lead, Production

Summary

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the area lead manages the day-to-day production floor logistics of the hourly employees in the manufacturing area.  The area lead is expected to utilize labor hours efficiently and minimize, if not eliminate, non-value-added activities; Be an agent of change. The area lead is responsible for identifying and resolving production-related problems by working closely with the direct labor workforce and support personnel. The ideal candidate will have primarily extensive experience with the manufacturing of cable assembly and soldering because it will be required to lead other cable assembly areas as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform all required duties in the cable assembly/harness area.
  • Identify and report defective material, faulty instructions, unusual conditions to Supervisor.
  • Ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small hand crimping tools/cutters/heat gun.
  • Communicate verbally with co-workers, daily and as often as needed throughout the day, to set up or re-direct work priorities based on business needs.  
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to other team members or new hires as an official designated trainer.
  • Work from schedules, written and oral, to produce cable assemblies/harnesses compliant with specifications of manufacturing instructions.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies.
  • Support additional work hours as business dictates.
  • Safety is # 1. Adhere to the PPE requirements. Ensure teammates follow the same guidelines.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing factory initiatives.
  • Performs supervisory duties in their absence.
  • Provides updates to immediate Supervisor on priorities and special task.
  • Assists in recruiting and selecting new team members.
  • Provides coaching and development to team members.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by immediate Supervisor.
