Maron Marvel is seeking a director of attorney recruiting and professional development to manage talent acquisition, retention, and promotion of attorneys for all the firm's offices. This role also includes lateral associate and partner recruiting program, The director will work closely with human resources and the attorney professional development committee in developing and executing strategic plans for attorney advancement and retention. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leadership and managing attorneys in meeting associate and lateral hiring needs.
  • Oversee attorney recruiting pipeline to include sourcing of candidates, interviewing and hiring of approved candidates. 
  • Identify and implement new candidate sourcing methods to expand the talent pool.
  • Partner with practice group leaders to align development programs with business objectives and client needs, creating innovative approaches to leverage professional development for business growth and client value.
  • Design and implement comprehensive attorney development strategies aligned with firm goals, partnering closely with practice leaders and firm management to identify needs and opportunities for growth.
  • Lead the creation and enhancement of professional development programs for attorneys at all levels, including skills training, leadership development, and practice-specific expertise building.
  • Guide practice group leaders in creating individualized development plans for attorneys, ensuring alignment between personal career goals and firm objectives.
  • Transform the firm's mentoring culture through innovative program design, mentor training, and ongoing program evaluation to drive meaningful developmental relationships.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences and professional associations, building strategic partnerships with law schools and professional organizations.
  • Partner with firm leadership to identify emerging skill needs and design targeted learning initiatives that prepare attorneys for future challenges and opportunities.
  • Create and implement standardized development interview strategies and protocols for use across all offices and practice groups, ensuring consistent career coaching and feedback approaches throughout the firm.  
  • Participate in lateral recruitment efforts with emphasis on strategic growth and integration of new attorneys into the firm's development framework.
  • Lead the evolution of the Summer Associate program to align with the firm's development philosophy and future talent needs.
  • Design and implement comprehensive attorney integration programs for all new hires, including structured onboarding plans, practice group integration strategies, and ongoing support to ensure successful assimilation into the firm's culture and practice.  
  • Collaborate with firm leaders to ensure development programs support the growth and advancement of diverse attorneys at all levels.
  • Monitor industry trends in professional development and legal talent management to ensure innovative approaches to attorney growth and retention.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (JD strongly preferred)
  • Seven (7) years of experience in attorney professional development, talent management, or related field in a law firm environment
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles, curriculum design, and program evaluation
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful professional development initiatives
  • Strong background in coaching and mentoring program development
  • Experience working with firm leadership on strategic talent initiatives
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences and professional forums
  • Track record of building successful external partnerships and professional networks
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align development initiatives with firm strategy
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in legal professional development
