We are seeking a Development Officer to play a key role in expanding our fundraising efforts, strengthening donor relationships, and increasing engagement with benefactors across the nation.
Position Summary
The Development Officer is an integral part of the fundraising team, responsible for developing personal relationships and partnerships with benefactors to increase financial support for the organization. This role focuses on mission-based fundraising, donor stewardship, and revenue growth by engaging people of great faith, influence, and affluence, inspiring them to support and advance our work.
This position requires an energetic, entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven, and results-oriented environment. The ideal candidate is outgoing, engaging, and motivated by building relationships that lead to meaningful contributions. Through personal outreach, strategic donor engagement, and customized giving opportunities, the Development Officer will play a pivotal role in growing the organization's donor base.
The Development Officer will work closely with the Development Director and Development Team to cultivate donors, implement fundraising strategies, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Holy Family School of Faith's mission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Donor Cultivation & Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong personal relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective benefactors, with an emphasis on securing renewed and increased giving.
- Conduct 20-25 face-to-face meetings per month with benefactors to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts.
- Develop customized strategies to inspire passion and action in donors, aligning their philanthropic interests with the mission of School of Faith.
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization, effectively communicating our vision, goals, and impact.
2. Fundraising Strategy & Pipeline Development
- Execute individual and group fundraising strategies for donors giving up to $10,000 annually.
- Collaborate with the Major Gifts team to build a donor pipeline leading to larger, long-term philanthropic commitments.
- Work closely with the Development Team to establish and implement strategies that sustain and grow the annual and monthly giving programs.
- Research current and prospective donors, assess giving history and philanthropic capacity, and create strategies for continued engagement.
3. Donor Stewardship & Engagement
- Personally steward Saint Society members through one-on-one conversations, special update events, and written communications.
- Engage donors through personalized correspondence, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings to strengthen relationships and encourage increased giving.
- Support the planning and execution of the annual Saint Society event, as well as other donor cultivation events.
- Oversee and manage donor communications and inquiries related to online giving, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness.
4. Fundraising Communications & Reporting
- Work with the Development and Communications Team to implement multi-channel donor engagement strategies, including direct mail, digital fundraising, and donor updates.
- Utilize the donor database (Virtuous CRM) to track donor interactions, develop engagement strategies, and generate reports.
- Provide regular updates and performance tracking to evaluate donor trends and identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in fundraising, sales, or business development, preferably in a faith-based ministry or nonprofit setting.
- Prior experience managing donor relationships, making face-to-face solicitations, or engaging in relationship-based fundraising is highly desirable.
Technical & Professional Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to engage and inspire donors.
- Ability to conduct donor research, assess philanthropic potential, and craft personalized engagement strategies.
- High energy and motivation to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, donor management platforms (Virtuous, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, etc.), and digital communication tools (Mailchimp, Canva, etc.).
- Experience in event planning, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities is a plus.
