Full-Time: 40 hours

Monday-Thursday: 7:30am-5:00pm; Friday 8:00am-12:00pm

  • Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with Indian Rivers Behavioral Health, Tuscaloosa DHR, Tuscaloosa Juvenile Court, and other agency personnel. Must be knowledgeable of Tuscaloosa DHR, Mental Health, and Tuscaloosa Juvenile Court organizations and policies

  • Must satisfactorily complete a DMH approved case management an in-home training programs

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an in-home case load of no less than 6 families
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships, observing professional boundaries
  • Assist consumers with crisis situations and/or arrange for the provision of such assistance from other professionals/personal care givers
  • Follow the DMH standards for provision of In-Home Services
  • Share responsibility for 24-hour emergency coverage for In-Home Families
  • Provide short-term crisis stabilization/ assessment in child's home and in the school
  • Provide assessment in the school in situations such as: the school has a question about the level of danger associated with a threat made by elementary school child
  • Provide home-based family therapy for targeted children who do not meet eligibility criteria for other existing in-home services
  • Takes referrals from hospitals, DHR, Juvenile Court Liaison, and Tuscaloosa County Children's Facilitation Team, and within the Agency
  • Transport consumers in a company vehicle, ensuring that company vehicle is operated in a safe manner and that appropriate staff are notified if there is an accident or if service is needed
  • If a company vehicle is not available, utilize personal vehicle to accomplish work related duties. Indian Rivers will reimburse mileage.
  • Provides outreach community services (may require home visits) as required by supervisor or program standards
  • Support Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA, and Security Programs.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of all consumer and Organization related activities by not divulging information outside the facility.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy by allowing adequate time to arrive, clock-in, and assume responsibilities at designated time.
  • Comply with all standards related to safety and health.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the quality of services provided by the department and the organization.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in behavioral sciences required
  • A minimum of one year post-master's experience in behavioral health setting working with children and adolescent or family therapy required.
  • At least two (2) years experience in community mental health setting preferred
  • Current Driver's License, Automobile Insurance and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Works in general office environment and in outpatient facilities; may require long hours.  Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, computer, copier, multi-line phone and fax machine.  Some risk involved in the event of aggressive/out-of-control consumers.
