Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Branch General Manager is responsible for delivering financial results by creating and executing a low-cost operating platform.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for delivering P&L results and growing profitability of distribution center operations.
  • Drive productivity to improve profitability, reduce waste, and manage expenses
  • Meet and exceed operating budget targets annually
  • Develop a safety culture that prioritizes employee safety and meets corporate objectives
  • Oversee the coordination of shipments, deliveries, and inventory management to ensure orders are fulfilled on time and in full.
  • Supervise and support truck drivers to ensure deliveries are made safe, efficient, and on time
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, vehicle maintenance schedules, and DOT regulations.
  • Lead by example, focusing on the well-being and growth of branch employees, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and mutual support
  • Be able to make the call to ensure employee welfare (severe weather and hardships)
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to hourly employees (warehouse staff, truck drivers, and customer service), helping them grow in their roles
  • Encourage open communication, active listening, and problem-solving across all levels of staff
  • Create an environment that motivates employees to perform at their best while prioritizing their personal and professional development
  • Meet company objectives for turnover, retention and recruiting
  • Act as a problem solver for business challenges, operational inefficiencies, or employee-related issues
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize branch operations

Requirements:

  • College degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in branch management or operations within the building materials or distribution industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing P&L, operational excellence and achieving financial targets
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making and proficiency in supply chain analytics tools
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of building and developing a safety culture and high-performing teams
  • Other requirements:
    • Occasional travel to customer sites or vendor locations
    • Problem solver, able to quickly solve issues, and offer improvement ideas
    • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
    • Regular and punctual attendance and ability to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, and push and pull
    • Requires ordinary conversation, hearing, and visual acuity
