Amphenol Canada Corp is a subsidiary of Amphenol of Wallingford, CT. and is exclusively dedicated to the development, manufacturing and marketing of connector systems for both the aerospace and commercial market segments.          

 

Product Manager

Summary:                               

The Product Manager (PM) position is accountable for managing the growth, development, marketing and overall performance of the assigned interconnect products portfolio, serving a global account base. This position, in our Markham, Ontario Canada office, is responsible for working with the global Amphenol Sales account teams, Manufacturer’s representatives and Customers to identify requirements and develop corresponding marketing strategies.  This role also works with Product Development Engineering to develop and help manage new product projects and the schedules necessary to meet demands of the market.  Regular reviews and prioritization of project activities with the marketing director and the lead development engineers serve as one of the management tools to ensure schedules and budgets are met and profits are maximized.  The PM is responsible for initiating Acquisition Requests meeting fundamental financial metrics as part of any new product development requiring investment of capital resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research and feasibility studies, develop market strategies and business cases to maximize top and bottom-line financial performance of the product line, and to ensure maximum penetration of the products in the global market. 
  • Develop and manage advertising initiatives and marketing collateral materials, both print and web-based, with support of the Global Sales Team and web team. The PM is ultimately responsible for completeness and accuracy of published product data.
  • Monthly forecasting and ongoing development and reviews of the New Business Opportunities Sales Funnel. 
  • Successful development of initiatives related to product/market and strategy.
  • Accountable for day-to-day business involving quotations, response to customer enquiries and quarterly quotation activities. 
  • Work collaboratively with Product Engineering and the Operations teams to maximize cost reduction and overall gross margin for the product line while pricing competitively in the market, optimizing market share and successfully winning maximum allocation on new programs.
  • Develop and manage product presentations with customers and provide product training to Amphenol employees.
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials (sample kits, catalogs, ads, internal product updates, web content).
  • Attend industry trade shows.

Requirements:

  • International travel is required, primarily to customer locations and other Amphenol sites in the US and throughout Europe, Asia and India.  Customer visits will be conducted with Amphenol Business Development and Account Managers. (up to 1-2 weeks per month)
  • Must be self-confident, assertive and a creative team player with strong leadership capability, demonstrate strong critical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must show a strong, proactive drive toward meeting established objectives, with accountability for accuracy and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical aptitude with a background in interconnect products is beneficial but not essential.  

 

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other technical, business degree, with 4-years current work experience in product management, outside sales or technical marketing in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven, advanced computer literacy (internal planning systems, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software).
