Position Title: Business Development Manager

Supervisor’s Title: Director of Business Development

 

1. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive short and long term revenue growth for the company focusing on (3) key areas; acquisitions, new market identification/penetration and development of new accounts. Projects designed to provide the BDM with an overall view of the business will also be assigned.

 

2. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify emerging markets

  •  Identify developing markets through searching print media, the internet, trade shows and point of sales data.
  • Aggregate leads from multiple sources to develop target account list, distribute to sales team and track progress through frequent interaction with regional sales personnel, manufacturer’s representatives and distributors.
  • Prepare market focused presentations focused on key customers and applications to be used a training materials and sales aids.

Develop new accounts

  • Identify “must have” customers within key markets and work to unearth and close new business opportunities.
  • Engage with all departments and manage opportunities from concept through design to manufacturing, to ensure successful closure. ·
  • Travel to accounts as needed to build strong customer relationships with all stakeholders; regional sales managers, manufacturer’s reps and distributors.
  • Maintain funnel of new business opportunities and track progress.

Identify potential acquisitions

  • Identify acquisition targets that allow the company to access new manufacturing technologies, products, markets or geographies.  
  • Assist in the initial vetting process of potential acquisitions and integration of acquisitions after close.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist in the preparation of strategic plan, annual budget and other presentations.
  • Other projects as assigned. The BDM role offers a unique opportunity to participate in variety of projects designed to give the BDM an overall view of the business.
  • Ability to travel when necessary, minimum of 25-50%

 

3. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Marketing plus three (3) to six (6) years proven track record in B2B Solution Sales; preferably in high tech, consumer electronics, and or medical instrumentation industries. Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

5. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Standard: Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. Must have manual dexterity in order to use a computer. Must be able to

climb stairs. May be exposed to manufacturing conditions.
