Director of Dealer Engagement

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Director of Dealer Engagement will be responsible for raising awareness and improving dealership knowledge of Erie FCU. The Director will build and execute a business plan which aligns with the organizational goals and strategies. The Director will be responsible for building and advancing productive relationships with new and existing dealerships within current field of membership and possible future expansion. The Director will act as a liaison between dealership and Indirect Lending staff.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Serve as primary liaison and contact for the credit union’s existing dealerships.
  2. Introduce the Credit Union’s Indirect Lending program to auto dealers who do not currently participate in the program. Provide a process that facilitates a smooth transition between dealer and credit union.
  3. Maintain ongoing and strong relationships with new and existing dealers that foster loan growth and a profitable book of business. Ensure that dealer questions or issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  4. Notify all dealerships of upcoming promotions and fax/email dealer rate changes to the dealers prior to their effective date.
  5. Visit dealerships to share their activity reports on a regular basis.
  6. Work with dealers to get them to enroll new members in the credit union.
  7. Recognize top performing dealerships in the program.
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union’s Indirect lending program. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively.
  9. Coordinate marketing requirements with the marketing department to develop advertising and sales literature of Indirect lending programs. Oversee the content of material to ensure accuracy and compliance. Review content of material with the Indirect Lending Manager to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  10. Communicate with Indirect Lending Manager and correspond immediately with dealerships that are in blatant violation of our lending policies or intentionally committing fraud, Instituting corrective action.
  11. Be knowledgeable in all regulatory requirements regarding Indirect Lending. Ensure all contract and relationships with auto dealers comply with State, Federal and Erie FCU rules regulations.
  12. Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.
  13. Build strong and trusting relationships with employees – work in collaboration with the Indirect Lending Team.
  14. Lead and facilitate development and implementation of event and promotional sections of the Indirect plan.
  15. Maintain knowledge of competitors’ rates and terms and other developments relating to auto loans and indirect.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain positive, proactive relationships within the Erie Community through the attendance at business functions and networking events.
  2. Attend conferences, training courses and seminars relating to Lending and the Indirect Lending program.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Requires professional, well-developed interpersonal skills for communicating with members, dealers, co-workers and other individuals involved in the lending process.
  2. Requires knowledge in basic auto lending procedures and regulations.
  3. Strong business and negotiation skills and a professional and personable demeanor.  Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all work-related areas.
  4. Must be self-motivated, organized, goal orientated and have excellent time management skills.
  5. Requires thorough knowledge of the Credit Union's policies, procedures, products and services regarding the indirect lending function.  Requires knowledge of laws and regulations governing indirect lending.
  6. Requires completion of high school education.
  7. Requires at least three years of experience in a retail setting, lending or member services position.  Experience in a financial institution preferred.
  8. Requires intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving decimals, fractions, percentages, etc.).
  9. Requires PC proficiency and knowledge of Office Suite.
