Distribution Designer / Technologist - EIT

The Opportunity

ZE Power Engineering is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric utility industry. We are currently seeking an individual as a Junior Electrical Technologist to contribute to our projects. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of electrical utility systems while working in a great team environment at a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities

• Design new and replacement infrastructure for electrical utility overhead and underground systems at Distribution voltages.
•  Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, illustrations and independent checks.
• Use computer-aided design methods to solve problems and prepare drawings.
• Prepare design markups to the drafting group in order to assist in the development of an engineered drafted drawing.
• Consult as required with the Professional of Record and action changes as directed.
• Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, project managers and managers.
  • Interact with clients, consultants and contractors on a continual basis. 
  • Conduct site visits in order to verify existing site conditions, meet stakeholders or oversee construction.
• Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations.
• Willing to assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, estimating, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the business development and project management departments.

Requirements

• Required:
  • Strong communication and organization skills and attention to details. 
  • Strong technical acumen and problem solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to remain focused and self driven in a remote work environment.
  • Class 5 drivers license
• Preferred:
  • ?Post Secondary diploma or degree from a recognized electrical technology or engineering institution.
  • experience designing overhead or underground power distribution assets in a power utility environment an asset
  • experience working with BC Hydro design systems a strong asset.
  • experience using pole line analysis design software tools such as Spida-calc a strong asset.
