Shop Forklift Technician / Mechanic Lead, Specialized Equipment

Position Overview and Expectations:  

The Shop SP ProTech2 Lead works to ensure a positive customer experience is created by the assigned technician team in minor maintenance of all classes of equipment larger than 15,500 lb. capacity and yard spotter equipment. The Shop SP ProTech2 Lead motivates and inspires the technician team by creating an environment that promotes personal development, positive communication, learning, training, purpose and bonding of team members. 

 

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):  

 

Lead Responsibilities: 

  • Scheduling, monitoring, and managing workflow for the team to achieve goals that contribute to customer satisfaction and growth of the company. 

  • Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner 

  • Work with Service Manager and Field Service Support Supervisors to coach and lead team members, taking ownership of assigned team 

  • Help organize team members to complete assigned work load 

  • Proactively perform quality inspections and challenge team members to improve 

  • Report quality inspection results weekly to Service Manager 

  • Visit customers to build trust, resolve complaints and perform quality inspections 

  • Keep communication channels open at all levels 

  • Certify assigned team members in specific job duties and/or specific skill sets of trade 

 

Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnose, repair and service specialized products equipment (Taylor line, Toyota Heavy Duty (THD), CombiLift, Aisle-Master, Taylor-Dunn) 

  • Ensure proper maintenance is performed on ProLift Toyota Material Handling vehicles assigned 

  • Perform service job on time and right the first time 

  • Maintain adequate and accurate parts inventory assigned 

  • Obtain parts and technical information needed to repair equipment 

  • Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner 

  • Accurately communicate appropriate information to those who need to know on a timely basis 

  • Communicate positively and courteously with our customers 

  • Accurately update ?tablet when completing orders, time cards, support information, etc. and turn in on a timely basis 

  • Operate lift trucks and equipment as required 

  • Read and comprehend technical manuals 

  • Use proper test equipment for troubleshooting 

  • Own and maintain hand tools as required by management. (Current tool list inventory required to be on file) 

  • Continue training thru company sponsored programs 

  • Promote ProLift Toyota Material Handling’s values, mission and purpose of “Helping People Carry the Load” to ensure we are customers’, vendors’ and associates’ “Indispensable Partner”. 

  • Promote TLM “Toyota Lean Management” Philosophy 

  • Protects organizations values by keeping information confidential and ability to handle sensitive information 

  • Performs other duties as assigned 

 

Working Conditions and Abilities (including but not limited to): 

  • Some work outdoors in outdoor conditions including rain or snow 

  • Work around exhaust fumes, gas, diesel, solvents, paints, thinners, etc. 

  • Noisy conditions in shop – air tools, compressors, truck lift, running engines 

  • Walk up and down stairs, occasionally 

  • Lift/push/pull objects up to 75 lbs. frequently 

  • Perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, sitting, climbing etc. constantly 

  • Perform simple manipulative skills such as writing, etc., constantly 

  • Stand for extended periods of time 

  • Drive vehicle for extended periods of time 

  • Extend hands/arms in a motion ranging from below the knees to above the head, occasionally 

  • See objects close and distant as in reading and driving, constantly 

 

Education/Job Requirements: 

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent, Tech School Preferred 

  • Valid Driver’s License 

  • 2 years’ mechanical experience preferred 

  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
