Network Engineer For Private Family

Location: Boston, MA with travel on the East Coast, USA

 

Are you an experienced Network Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge technology and a commitment to delivering seamless, secure connectivity in high-profile environments? We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to support the sophisticated lifestyle of a private family, overseeing more than 50 individual networks across luxury residences along the East Coast.

 

As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing state-of-the-art network solutions for one of the most distinguished estates in the country. This is an exceptional opportunity to blend your technical expertise with creativity, ensuring world-class IT performance for the principals.

 

Candidates should expect to travel on short notice when urgent issues arise.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Design & Management: Build, implement, and maintain secure wired and wireless networks tailored to luxury properties, ensuring flawless connectivity across multiple locations.
• Network Equipment Installation & Configuration: Set up routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware for ultra-secure environments.
• Proactive Network Support: Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to minimize downtime, maintaining the highest service standards.
• Smart Home Integration: Collaborate with the Director of Home Technology to support smart home systems like Crestron, Savant, and Control4, ensuring seamless functionality for lighting, climate, and security systems.
• Cybersecurity Leadership: Implement and uphold robust security protocols to safeguard data privacy and family communications.
• Custom Solutions: Administer applications and develop bespoke solutions to address the unique needs of high-end residences.
• Travel & On-Site Support: Oversee installations, upgrades, and provide hands-on support at properties along the East Coast.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Estate Managers, vendors, and staff to ensure smooth operations and user-friendly systems.
• Continuous Innovation: Stay ahead of technological trends and recommend innovations to future-proof the family’s properties.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience designing and managing complex networks in multi-property environments.
• Expertise in networking technologies such as firewalls, switches, SD-WAN, and VPNs.
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills, with the ability to solve problems remotely or on-site under time-sensitive conditions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on maintaining discretion and professionalism.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours.
• Certifications: CCNA or CompTIA Network+ strongly preferred

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with smart home and AV systems (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant).
• Experience in luxury residential IT environments or high-security settings.
• Strong project management abilities in dynamic environments.

 

Schedule:

Generally, Monday to Friday, business hours with a high degree of flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

 

Compensation:

Base compensation of $110,000 to $130,000 offered, depending on experience.
