Status:                                 Full-time / Hourly

Salary:                                  $31 to $33 P/HR DOE

Supervisor:                          Environmental Director

Subordinates:                     None

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Grants Accounting Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and implementing financial tracking and reconciliation, grant financial reporting requirements and deadlines, invoicing and accounts payable, and other tasks related to the financial administration of multiple grant-funded and tribally-funded programs in the Pala Environmental Department.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

The Grants Accounting Coordinator responsibilities include:

 

  • Financial management and tracking of all PED grants and internal budgets.
  • Reconciliation of quarterly and annual financial statements with PED grant and internal budgets.
  • Coordinate with Pala Finance Department to ensure all financial record keeping, procurement, and audits are performed in accordance with Tribal and OMB regulations.
  • Maintain all files related to grant financials and monitor all documentation connected with grant-funded programs.
  • Monitors all deadlines and ensures timely processing of grant financial reports.
  • Tracking and preparation of payment requests for invoices for PED grants and internal budgets.
  • Assisting with the preparation of grant financial and performance progress reports.
  • Support Tribal, departmental, and collaborative events including but not limited to Earth Day events, trainings, and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND ABILITIES

 

  • Must have demonstrated experience with standard accounting principles.
  • Experience with QuickBooks strongly preferred.
  • Must be exceptionally detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must have strong writing and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a diverse environment.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, particularly MS Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with PED staff, Pala tribal leadership, Pala employees, and others.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field preferred, or a minimum of two years' work experience in bookkeeping, financial management and oversight
  • Experience with financial tracking and reporting for federal and state grants preferred
  • Experience working for a Native American tribe preferred, but not required
  • Must have a valid California Driver License
  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing during employment 
  • Background check will be required
