Environmental Safety Manager

This position is responsible for upholding Amphenol’s moral and ethical obligations to a safe work environment by, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and continually working towards improvements in the workplace.  Accountable for procedure development and revisions, report submission, compliance based auditing, and regulatory program documentation. Promote Environmental and Safety Department philosophies to ensure that the environmental and safety goals are met.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of chemical handling and safe work practices in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Keep all equipment in proper working condition.
  • Must display dedication to safety and environmental concerns in the performance of daily duties.
  • Perform inspections and monitor manufacturing operations for environmental compliance to ensure functionality of equipment, integrity of waste holding tanks, etc. and initiate appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with Amphenol policies and safety requirements.
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting/managing the corrective actions.
  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
  • Maintain and update SOP’s as needed for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day-to-day training.
  • Annual Safety refresher training for both Nashua facilities.
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Operators are subject to workplace hazards, including; proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to multiple chemicals, which requires safe handling on a regular basis. 
  • Must be able to fit into confined spaces, i.e. Manholes, trenches, tanks.  
  • Required safety equipment includes safety glasses and may include: safety shoes, aprons, gloves, boots, face shield, and respirator, when working in restricted areas.
  • Responsible for hazardous waste sampling and data entry utilizing Excel.
  • Must understand and maintain knowledge of the emergency contingency plan and be a first responder the Contingency requirements.
  • Must pursue/receive NH Hazardous Waste Coordinator Certificate as well as DOT training and maintain annually. 
  • Responsible for ROHS /Conflict mineral data collection and support to Amphenol sales/Customer service team.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, occupational safety and health or a related degree from four-year College or university.
  • 5-7 years of diverse EHS experience primarily in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Proficient understanding and skills in industrial hygiene and regulatory affairs are required. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability/flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic Computer experience preferred - Microsoft Office-Outlook/Word. Strong knowledge with Excel.
  • Strong supervisory/leadership skills.
