Our operating unit provides underground utility services, and we are looking for an Service Writer/Fleet Assistant to join our team.

This position requires organization, timeliness, accuracy and great focus to detail and safety.

 

PREVIOUS SERVICE WRITER/FLEET EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duty functions.

  • Schedule and ensure that SCI shops are maintaining the flat rate percentage of 75%.  Training, motivating, and taking out roadblocks to ensure goal is met.
  • Oversees Parts Inventory in SCI shop locations.  Assures that inventory levels are correct at all times.
  • Reports to Fleet Manager any changes needed in stocked items.
  • Oversees Pool Equipment Operations in SCI shops.  Responsible for making sure that all SCI equipment is accounted for at all times.  Supervises the check in/check out system to maintain full compliance.
  • Understands and maintains vehicle/equipment maintenance schedules in fleet management software. Make sure that the schedules are updated properly, are being used by SCI shop personnel, troubleshooting system, and making any changes or improvements as needed in conjunction with the Fleet Manager.  Must know where to pull scheduled service information, put together in the appropriate format and knows how to implement these schedules following SCI procedures and run an accurate database on this information.
  • Schedules and lines out work orders for shops.
  • Emergency or Field Repairs - Schedule and perform emergency field repairs for welders.
  • Daily reviews job for quality and problems - revises work schedule accordingly for SCI shops - as needed.
  • Holds safety meetings with shop personnel.
  • Updates the Fleet Manager on crew's needs, progress, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to use basic math skills to compute measurements, timecards, etc.
  • Inventory Management
  • Ability to read and interpret documents:  safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, work orders, quotes, etc.
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, work orders, etc.

  • Ability to create necessary fleet reporting spreadsheets.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Great Computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
  • Must be organized, multi-tasked oriented, and maintain a neat and safe work environment.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • A positive can-do attitude and openness to trying things new ways.

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY
Daily and exemplary attendance and punctuality is required for this position. The work may require overtime hours to be worked to achieve desired results.
