Microwave Test Technician - 3rd Shift

Job Title: Microwave Test Technician, C-1  

Shift: 1st and 3rd shift  

FSLA: Non-exempt 

 

Summary:  

This position is to work in a manufacturing environment producing high performance coaxial cable assembly prototypes for military and aerospace applications.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Knowledge of test equipment and methods involved in performing array of RF and Microwave tests including insertion loss, return loss, VSWR etc.  

  • Knowledge of test equipment and methods involved in performing the complete variety of electrical length and phase related measurements.  

  • Perform R.F. and microwave electrical testing to ensure that products meet customer form, fit and function requirements. 

  • Compile and organize test data into comprehensive and coherent test reports in accordance with TMS approve test reporting methods. 

  • Maintain selected test apparatus in a "ready" and organized condition. 

  • Set up selected test apparatus in the correct and prescribed manner. 

  • Compile correct and complete lab notes on test method as actually applied. 

  • Manufacture and test prototype microwave cable assemblies. 

  • Assist and support manufacturing efforts regarding product performance and test issues. 

  • Maintain and support test equipment and tools required in the execution all job functions 

  • Read work orders, manufacturing process instructions, follows production drawings and assembly instruction sheets, and/or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.  

  • Assist in creating and/or updating work instructions and test procedures. 

  • Assist in the repair of broken or damaged microwave cable assemblies. . 

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Interpretation of test results; efficient decision making regarding hardware performance and product requirements.  

  • Write clear and legible routine reports and correspondence. 

  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

  • Proficiency with standard PC software such as MS Word and MS Excel.   

  • Limited domestic and international travel when required. 

  • Other duties as required by the needs of the business. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements  

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

  • A “hands on” self-starter with enthusiastic attitude and well developed set of personal and work ethics. 

  • A strong mechanical aptitude with a firm and solid comprehension of electrical phenomena and characteristics. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assembly, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.   

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  

  • Two year engineering degree (mechanical, electrical or manufacturing) or relevant military experience. 

  • Three or more years of experience with the manufacture, maintenance and test of RF and microwave components, systems and test equipment.
