After Hours Fleet Manager

SUMMARY

The After Hours Fleet Manager is responsible for core business support functions outside of normal business hours, including CTPAT tracking and alert compliance, customer load tracking and status reporting, load planning, breakdown maintenance assistance, and managing and developing relationships with drivers to improve overall driver satisfaction and retention. The position works closely with other departments to meet customer, driver, and safety initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Monitors CTPAT geofencing, taking immediate investigative and escalation action on out of route alerts

· Dispatches load information, communicating customer expectations to operator.

· Answers inbound contractor and customer communications

· Uses LME, email, and phone to answer load-related questions for contractors

· Handles contractor load-related needs including money advances within scope

· Tracks, traces, and reports positions and eta updates to customers via phone, email, or web portals

· Plans available loads and trucks and creates solutions to cover broken down or uncovered loads.

· Handles maintenance functions that arise, including roadside breakdown assistance, creating work orders, approvals within scope

· Ability to work independently without direct supervision

· Manages the fleet productivity using key performance indicators.

· Answers phone, email and Omnitracs communication of 300-400 trucks.

· Coordinates operator’s service-related needs to monitor service issues (i.e., permits, service failures, tickets) by proactively minimizing and resolving problems.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations for over the road drivers including e-logs, permits, hazmat, weight restrictions, etc.

· Ensure DOT and company specific safety regulations are being followed.

· Communicates fleet needs with internal partners, such as Load Planner. Advocating for driver when needs are not met, to include selling load opportunities to operator.

· Notifies CSR and planners if assistance is necessary to help resolve issues.

· Notifies after-hours Safety team of any accident or emergency.

· Communicates with internal partners when there are changes to a load.

· Meets or exceeds CPM, RWT, and driver turnover percentage goals.

· Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience

· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

· Ability to negotiate.

· Motivated to achieve both company and personal goals.

· Proficient computer and internet skills (Microsoft Office products, Word and Excel).

· Able to build rapport quickly
