Engineer, Mechanical Analysis
Join our team and help shape the future of wireless connectivity indoors and outdoors. Together, let's push the boundaries of technology and advance sustainable networks worldwide.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
We're looking for a driven Mechanical Analysis Engineer with a passion for structural analysis, automation, and customer-facing problem-solving. This role supports the design, analysis, and development of steel mounting systems, rooftop/ground platforms, and accessories used at cellular tower sites. You'll work alongside product line managers, R&D engineers, and architecture & engineering (A&E) firms to optimize product performance and support customer adoption through technical excellence. You'll be at the forefront of designing, analyzing, and enabling innovative mounting solutions that power the 5G/4G LTE world. Our team blends engineering precision with technical creativity, and we're looking for someone eager to grow, contribute, and innovate alongside us. This position is hybrid based out of our Richardson, Texas office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced finite element analysis using ANSYS Mechanical for new and existing steel products.
- Perform advanced structural analysis using RISA 3D for new and existing mounting products.
- Build and refine automated engineering tools (Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python) to streamline internal design workflows and external-facing tools.
- Partner with PLM and Sales to support customer requests, offer engineering guidance, and respond to A&E firm inquiries with structural documentation and analysis reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate mount-to-tower interactions, investigate new attachment methods, and interpret TIA-222 and AISC-360 code requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the AEportal and external-facing analysis tools.
- Participate in the wind load reduction initiative, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, wind tunnel testing coordination, and EPA optimization studies.
- Interface with manufacturing teams for prototyping, quick-turn samples, and product validation.
- Review and generate Bills of Materials (BOM), drawing packages, and release documentation in SAP ECTR and PLM systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
- Strong background in FEA using ANSYS Mechanical or Abaqus; beam/frame modeling in RISA 3D or equivalent (REVIT, STAAD, or ETABS).
- 2+ years of structural analysis experience in Structural (Building), Telecommunications, Infrastructure, or related field.
- Solid modeling proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software; familiarity with SAP/PLM and BOM management.
- Familiarity with structural building codes (examples: TIA-222, ASCE 7, or AISC 360 standards).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to explain technical concepts to engineers, product managers, and customers alike.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently and own projects end-to-end.
You'll excite us if you have:
- Experience with VBA scripting, Excel automation, or Python for engineering applications preferred.
- Working knowledge of steel fabrication, mount hardware, and tower accessories.
- Exposure to RF system layouts, antenna mounting schemes, or telecom equipment integration.
- Exposure to Digital Data Capture and AutoCAD.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, site audits, or manufacturing reviews.
