Director of Commercial Sales

Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Commercial Sales will lead the company's commercial sales strategy, focusing on the development and expansion of customer relationships, market share, and revenue within the commercial telecomms and industrial sectors both in the US and internationally.  This executive-level role is responsible for identifying new business, NPI opportunities, managing key accounts, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure customer requirements are met with high-quality and timely solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the commercial sales strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to refine strategic direction.
  • Identify, pursue, and capture new business opportunities in the commercial and Industrial markets, including OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and MROs.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with existing customers to ensure retention, satisfaction, and account growth.
  • Develop proposals, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations in coordination with Finance, Legal, and Operations.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations to ensure seamless execution of customer programs.
  • Partner with Marketing to enhance brand visibility and generate demand through trade shows, industry events, and digital channels.
  • Provide voice-of-customer input into Product Development and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor sales performance metrics (e.g., revenue, margin, pipeline health, win rates).
  • Deliver accurate forecasts and sales reports to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with export regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry.
  • Proven track record of success in commercial and Industrial sales preferably cable or interconnect segments, including key account management and new business capture.
  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and regulatory environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
  • Experience working with major  OEMs (e.g. Airbus, LAM, Applied) and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Familiarity with government regulations affecting commercial aerospace exports (e.g., ITAR, EAR).
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
