Job Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Rough End Supervisor is responsible for the safety of the employees in the area, the quality and cost of the product being manufactured, and the production from the department. The supervisor follows the flow of materials, components, tooling, setup, and paperwork, in and between departments to conform to the schedule. The supervisor confers with other supervisors and the plant manager to eliminate difficulties and delays. 


This position requires that the employee perform all essential duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor which shall include the following:

  1. Conducts quality checks to ensure that the quality standards are being met.
  2. Conducts inspections and reviews to ensure that good safety, organizational, and housekeeping practices are maintained and followed.
  3. Plans and manages manpower needs and conducts orientation for new employees.
  4. Provides training, support and guidance to subordinate personnel to develop their job skills.
  5. Coordinates documentation to physical product to ensure timely, damage-free, and a quality product for the following department.
  6. Develops cross-training with the area employees to establish efficiencies and continued operations during absences or vacations of employees.
  7. Discusses with the plant manager any employee disciplinary needs, promotions, or pay increases.
  8. Manages the inventory of product between each operation in the fitting department.
  9. Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  10. Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Requirements:

  1. Two years of directly related supervision experience preferred.
  2. A self-starter and with the ability to get the job done with a minimum of direction from his/her superior.
  3. Work weekends and holidays when necessary.
  4. Communicate, lead, and direct the employees in the fittings department.
  5. Wear safety shoes at all times, safety glasses with side shields when operating the equipment, and may wear protective gloves when necessary.

Physical Demands:

  1. Occasionally lift and carry loads up to 40 pounds.
  2. Continuously lift and manipulate parts weighing 5 to 40 pounds.
  3. Bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, and push/pull materials or material handling equipment.
  4. Frequently use both feet to maneuver carts or pallets into and away from the carving machine.
  5. Firm grasping and fine manipulation of both hands is necessary.
  6. Occasional exposure to wood dust.
  7. Standing up to 10 hours per day.
  8. Continuous walking, hand, and foot movement up to 10 hours per day.
  9. Requires ordinary conversation, hearing, and visual acuity.
