Fire Prevention Officer
Join the Branson Fire Department as a Fire Prevention Officer, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring community safety.
This dynamic position involves conducting fire code inspections, delivering engaging fire safety
education programs, and investigating fire incidents to determine their cause.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Conduct thorough fire code inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Investigate fire scenes to determine cause and origin.
- Lead or support fire safety education programs for schools, businesses, and the public.
- Review building plans and permits for fire code compliance.
- Be a visible ambassador of fire safety throughout the Branson community.
WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS?
- A High School graduate or GED equivalent.
- At least four (4) years of full-time experience with a municipal fire department or fire district.
- Current certification in the following: Firefighter I, NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
- Certification by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) as a Fire Inspector I.
DO YOU HAVE THE "EXTRA" TO HELP YOU STAND OUT AS A CANDIDATE? HERE ARE SOME PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS TO DO JUST THAT:
- Current certification by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) in the following: Fire Instructor II, and Fire Investigator.
Candidates will be required to obtain both certifications within 18 months of the hire date.
- Certification in NIMS 300. Candidates will be required to obtain certification within 12 months of the hire date.
- Certification as a Medical First Responder and must be obtained within 6 months of the hire date.
- Certification as a Missouri Emergency Medical Technician.
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have no convictions or charges relating to arson, fraud, extortion or other crimes relating to the construct of the position.
• Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position.
• Tattoos, Scarification, Body Art, and Body Modifications must meet City of Branson Employee Appearance at Work policy.
• Be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings, as well as post-offer medical evaluation and annual physical examination.

BENEFITS: The starting hourly wage is $21.92 per hour and will increase to $22.79 per hour after 6 months of successful probation.
