This position is based in the South Bay of Los Angeles, a collection of sought-after coastal communities in Southern California. What You'll Lead

  • Financial strategy, budgeting, and oversight of real estate development and other related operations of the family businesses, including the development and operation of a landmark entertainment destination.
  • Capital planning, financing, and financial risk management efforts for future ground-up hospitality and multifamily developments located in the South Bay and near corporate headquarters.
  • Strategic financial oversight and performance monitoring of a unique and diversified real estate portfolio, including residential, office, retail, and mixed-use assets.
  • Management of the family office's financial operations, including investment oversight and support of the staffed Family Foundation.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • You will join as a key executive management team member, overseeing strategic operations and value-add opportunities across a diverse portfolio of companies, including real estate management and development, financial services, and public and private equity investments.
  • You will serve as a trusted advisor to both the family and executive leadership team, providing financial insights and operational oversight to support informed decision-making of the executive team.
  • Collaborate closely with and report directly to the CEO and together manage external counterparties such as partners and investors as well as lenders, insurance providers, investment managers, tax professionals and IT consultants.
  • Lead, mentor, and build a lean but effective finance team, driving continuous improvement in financial results, processes and systems. Evaluate performance across all asset classes and operations on an ongoing basis, to drive net revenue enhancement and risk reduction.
  • Play a point of contact role in managing investor relationships and evaluating internal debt and equity financing opportunities.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial systems and technologies to support scalable growth.
  • Bring initiative and operate with a high degree of autonomy, and an entrepreneurial and opportunistic mindset, with a strong appreciation for the long game in all aspects of life, personally, capital markets investing, work and personal relationships.
  • Lead day-to-day financial reporting and evaluation across all operating business entities and the family office, including treasury, accounting, financial reporting, tax planning, internal controls, budgeting and forecasting, cash flows, and financial analysis.
  • Coordinate with outside legal counsel on (i) real estate activities, such as leasing, construction contracts, land use and entitlements, secured debt financing, property management operations, etc.; (ii) corporate legal work like, creating new internal and JV investment entities and managing the existing portfolio of active and passive investment vehicles; (iii) trust and will creation and maintenance for the family office and (iv) labor law for company employees.

 

Qualifications

  • Individuals based in the greater Los Angeles area and who are familiar with and well-connected in the Southern California commercial real estate markets will be strongly preferred.
  • Desires to be a part of a leadership team with a very flat organizational structure and who is comfortable assuming significant authority and who can operate successfully with autonomy at the top of a short chain of command. Someone who:
    • Ensures that the family business enterprises execute on the activities necessary to successfully manage our day-to-day operations.
    • Likes to roll up their sleeves and engage broadly in the imagining, planning and implementation of complex projects.
    • Has the capacity to develop long-term financial strategies as well as implement and manage ongoing strategic and operational plans aligned with and supporting the growth and succession of long term family and corporate objectives.
  • Significant experience across the full lifecycle of commercial real estate, including investment analysis, acquisitions, entitlements, financing, development, construction, and asset management, with a focus on providing strategic and financial oversight of a diverse and growing real estate portfolio. A strong track record and deep understanding of retail and mixed-use projects is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining financial models utilized in scenario planning and investment due diligence.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, General office hours

 

Compensation:

We expect to pay $300k – 350k in base salary, commensurate with experience, plus an annual discretionary bonus and generous benefits package. Employer has the capacity to accommodate a higher base salary for a candidate with extraordinary qualifications and ability to work across business disciplines.
