NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and other professional skills that support to the Bureau of Land Management through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Four Rivers Field Office in Boise, ID.

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 820 hours. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 year(s) of experience in Timber Cruising/Scaling/Monitoring OR HS/GED Degree in Forestry with minimum additional experience of 2 year(s) in Forestry OR Previously completed training in Not applicable

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, ARCVIEW (GIS)
Duties:

Provide assistance with field work including cruising, scaling, inventorying, and applying forest harvest treatments. Assist in forest projects across Boise District and Shoshone Field Office, lead by FRFO Forester. In FY 26 and FY27 the projects include Bald Mountain/Sun Valley Resort.

  • Assist with Timber Sale Layout, Sales and Monitoring   40%
  • Conduct Field Preparation for Treatments   30%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Work requires 5-10 days/year of overnight camping.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: First Aid, Dravers Safety, UTV Training, HazMat
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, field safety vest, field pack, gloves, tent sleeping bag, other protective gear as needed
