Operational Excellence Coordinator - Shipping

The Opportunity:

PTW is looking for an Operational Excellence Coordinator to support our shipping department within our sheet metal fabrication shop in Calgary. This is a full-time permanent position working on-site Monday-Friday. If you are analytically focused and have previous experience with continuous improvement, we want to hear from you! 

A Day in the Life...

  • Analyzes workflows and monitors performance metrics (KPI's) to identify areas of improvement, focusing on quality and process efficiency
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to standardize documentation and process procedures for shipping consignment
  • Coordinates with QA/QC to address product defects and returns
  • Maintains proper documentation for inspections, quality checks, and certifications
  • Schedules and coordinate shipments with other staff to ensure on-time in full delivery attainment according to customer specifications
  • Works closely with carriers, freight forwarders, and plant leadership to resolve delays, damages, or documentation errors
  • Monitors inventory levels and updates logistics dashboards to ensure accuracy and ensure material availability
  • Supports the team with continuous improvement initiatives such as improving packing and labeling standards to support quality and customer satisfaction

Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of previous experience working in a role focused on continuous improvement, lean methodology, and/or quality assurance. A combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience working with shipping documentation, including shipping lists and BOL's is required
  • Previous experience supporting teams with implementing lean methods for continuous improvement an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word
  • Proficient in both Metric and Imperial measurements

Other Requirements:

  • Must have own transportation as facility is not currently transit accessible
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and be resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently or within a collaborative team 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated ability to produce high quality work
