NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS). These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in cultural resources management including research, fieldwork, and report preparation. Meets Secretary of the Interior qualifications. OR MA/MS Degree in Archaeology (North American focus preferred), Anthropology, Architectural History, or a related field

  • Knowledge of cultural resources processes, including cultural resources survey, cultural resource and survey documentation, report writing, and ArcGIS is required. North American archaeology experience is preferred. Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Archaeologist requirements.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint

Duties:

Assist state Cultural Resources Specialists with cultural resources reviews.

  • Conduct background research and literature review from National Register listings and databases, state site files, local historical contexts, historic aerial photos and maps, and other sources as appropriate. May include review of state archaeological and historical resource identification forms as well as previous identification reports.   30%
  • Review project submissions in accordance with state-specific processes detailed in prototype programmatic agreements and make recommendations for additional work as appropriate.   30%
  • Generate project review summaries, including maps, for review by state Cultural Resources Specialists.   30%
  • Assist state Cultural Resources Specialists with other activities that support cultural resources compliance as needed.   10%
