The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in knowledge and understanding of NRCS functionality and extensive experience working with NRCS on Animal Husbandry related tasks. Experience required with Windows, MNS Word, MS Excel. OR MA/MS Degree in Animal Science or related field.

Duties:

Assist the NRCS Ecological Science Division (ESD) team with duties related to technical assistance and technology development, acquisition, delivery, transfer, and training relevant to feed management. This position will serve as an animal husbandry specialist, assisting the team with high-priority tasks and providing support to national, state, and field staff. Specifically, the position will work on mutually agreed-upon tasks, help the team raise awareness of the Feed Management Conservation Practice Standard (Code 592), and provide feed management training for the Agency.

  • Travel Requirements: Travel to the local field using government vehicles may be required on a routine basis. Valid state driver's license required.

  • Required Safety Gear: Disposable plastic boots and gloves and coveralls (if required) for site visits to livestock.
  • Safety Gear Use: Site visits to livestock facilities.
