NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS). These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Project Management with a focus on environmental application. OR BA/BS Degree in Environmental Science; Biological Sciences; Environmental Engineering; Ecology.

Duties:

Provides programmatic assistance to the ASTC for Water Resources related to the administration and implementation of Water Resources for West Virginia.

  • Serves as Project Manager for Watershed Program Planning Projects. Duties include but are not limited to establishing and ensuring adherence to project timelines, scheduling and attending meetings with units of local governments and other stakeholders, attending public meetings, and documenting project actions for the administrative file according to policy and procedures.   40%
  • Works with State Office staff to ensure that NRCS watershed and area-wide planning complies with laws relating to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, other public laws, and executive orders relating to watershed and program neutral planning.   30%
  • Assist in preparing specifications and Scopes of Work for planning work.   10%
  • Works with State Office staff in correlating data for preparing budgets and budget estimates for watershed and rehabilitation planning.   10%
  • Assists with eligibility determination in the field for Emergency Watershed Program (EWP) protection measures. Assembles necessary Damage Survey Report (DSR) documentation.   10%

  • Overnight travel: Field visits for EWP assessments; travel to meet with stakeholders in the project areas; meeting with contractors in the field to assess watershed
