The Surgery Department at Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Veterinary Care is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant that has a desire to expand their knowledge and skill level as an assistant. We're looking for a highly motivated and flexible person to add to the team as we're growing.
Essential duties and responsibilities (others may be assigned as needed)
Patient care (performed AFTER training)
Animal restraint
Clean cages, kennels
Assist technicians and high level technician assistants in basic duties such as walking and feeding animals
Patient medical record documentation under direction of technician or DVM
Advanced assistant skills- once trained & under supervision of technician or DVM
Obtaining vitals
Collecting laboratory samples (blood, feces, urine, etc)
Filling prescriptions
Administering oral medications
Section Responsibilities
Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work
Cleaning & maintaining of section area, kennels, and equipment
Laundry
Restocking supplies in section area
Office supplies
Other section areas when slow
Communicating patient care concerns to technician
Assist in consistent communication throughout the patient care staff
File patient documents
Phone system
Answer phones
Direct calls
Obtain phone messages & process properly
Greet clients
