For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree with minimum additional experience of 10 year(s) in woodworking and/or log construction

  • Must be skilled in the materials and methods of historic wood building construction
Duties:

Enrollee will provide training and subject matter expertise in reconstructing revolutionary war era log soldier huts. Enrollee must be well versed in historical materials and methods of log construction.

  • Support youth crews and classes in the construction of log huts   75%
  • Conduct research and fabricate mockups for different building systems   10%
  • Deliver patriotic education explaining the reasons for the American revolution and the hardships endured and overcome by soldiers   10%
  • Administrative tasks: Job hazard analysis, ordering, documentation, etc.   5%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Enrollee will travel to NY/NJ overnight 1-2x per month on average
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Enrollee will be working outside in various conditions and employee conducting strenuous activities that require proper ergonomics, technique, and PPE to maintain personal safety.
  • Required Safety Gear: Enrollee will be required to wear proper PPE for a variety of woodworking tasks.
  • Physical requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Enrollee will work outside in various weather conditions and in an urban and rural setting. Must be able to lift and use traditional tools like axes, cant hooks, and various devices for lifting, rolling and moving logs.
