Position:   Machine Shop Lead

Location:   Nashua, NH

This is an opportunity for a Machine Shop Lead to join our global technology company that is the leader in the high-speed interconnect industry.  You will be an integral part of a team responsible for new product development. The product development team engineering disciplines include mechanical design, signal integrity, mechanical integrity, manufacturing, and process development.

Position Summary:

The Machine Shop Lead will be responsible for leading a team in the programming and operation of a variety of CNC machinery including wire EDM, die sinking and hole-drilling EDM, and CNC milling machines to produce a wide variety of precision parts.  This individual, along with their team members, will develop programs, design fixtures, set-up workpieces, check programs, and operate related machinery to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create CNC programs for a variety of machines, including wire, sinker, and CNC milling machines.
  • Create set-up documentation for operators/machinists for use on the shop floor.
  • Serve as a mentor and as a key training resource for set-up and production personnel and provide hands-on support.
  • Provide technical expertise during Design for Manufacturing processes and machining solutions.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CNC programming data.
  • Set up and operate CNC milling and EDM machines (wire, sinker, and hole-drilling EDM).
  • Monitor machining processes and inspect finished parts.
  • Maintain machinery and conduct minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience with precision machining and EDM equipment.
  • Familiarity with machining a variety of materials such as aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, copper, and other alloys.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience in a supervisorial role.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-year Machine Tool degree or certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years CNC experience, preferably in a tool & die environment.
  • Minimum 2 years programming experience preferably with MasterCam and Esprit.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisorial role.
  • Proficiency using solid modeling tools (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to self-start and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain CNC equipment.
