Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of daily meals (typically breakfast and early dinner, with occasional lunches) for the principal, adhering to specific dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free).
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on provisioning, inventory management, and the creation of imaginative and diverse menus.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and dining areas, including the meticulous care of equipment and appliances.
  • Support the Executive Chef in planning and executing intimate dinner parties and catering to family and guests.

Who You Are

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable culinary professional with:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a private household or a highly regarded fine-dining restaurant.
  • A polished demeanor and impeccable professional presentation.
  • Extensive familiarity with a diverse range of international cuisines.
  • Expertise in accommodating various dietary restrictions and preferences; a genuine interest in nutrition and healthy cooking is a significant plus.
  • A true "life-long learner" mentality – curious, proactive, and eager to acquire new culinary skills and knowledge.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn, formal serving styles, table settings, and dining protocols.
  • ServSafe certification (or equivalent) is required; candidates without current certification must be willing to obtain it promptly.

Schedule:

  • Generally, five days a week, focusing on two daily meals (breakfast and early dinner). Flexibility is paramount, as the schedule will vary.
  • You will share holiday and weekend coverage with the Executive Chef and should plan for a busy peak season (November through April).

Compensation:

  • Compensation $90,000 - $105,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
