NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in all responsibilities of an EEO on current refuge owned heavy equipment. OR HS/GED Degree OR Previously completed training in HEST and other applicable trainings

Duties:

The enrollee will use heavy equipment to construct and maintain a shallow water impoundment and 2-stage ditch as well as assist in any projects that require the use of heavy equipment.

  • Work will consist of using the refuge heavy equipment (he is currently certified on) to construct a shallow water impoundment and 2-stage ditch. This includes conducting, fueling and all routine pre and post checks as required per USFWS heavy equipment operations.   85%
  • On an as needed basis, assist refuge employees with heavy equipment projects including mowing, installing culverts, water control structures, grade roads.   10%
  • Provide weekly project updates to ESP Project Monitors   5%

Other:
  • Remain current in HEST certifications
  • Government Vehicle Training: Refresher trainings as required by USFWS policy.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: The ESP employee will be experienced with and will follow all safety and JHAs required to fully operate all aspects of refuge heavy equipment as required by USFWS policy. Refresher training will be provided as needed.
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, gloves and other PPE as required.
  • Safety Gear Use: While working in the field and using heavy equipment.
