Are you a proactive, organized, and reliable individual who loves working with school-age children? A warm and dynamic family in Montclair, NJ is seeking a conscientious Family Assistant to partner with them in managing the daily logistics and enrichment of their two school-age children.

 

This role is ideal for a confident self-starter who thrives on organization, enjoys coordinating family schedules, and is passionate about supporting children's growth and independence.

 

The client is hoping to fill this role by 08/25/2025.

 

Responsibilities

Childcare

  • Coordinate school pickups and drive children to activities, playdates, and appointments
  • Assist with homework routines and promote strong habits
  • Plan and support age-appropriate indoor/outdoor activities based on children's interests
  • Maintain open communication with parents, key stakeholders, and other caregivers
  • Prepare for activities and events with needed gear, attire, and snacks

Household Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of children's spaces, backpacks, and school gear
  • Prepare healthy meals/snacks and tidy kitchen and dining areas after use
  • Run errands including grocery shopping as needed
  • Track school and activity schedules using the family's shared calendar system
  • Willingly pitch in with the daily graces to help keep an organized home running smoothly (run a load of laundry, empty trash, etc.)

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Prior experience in a similar family assistant or childcare role with glowing and verifiable references
  • A positive, professional, and flexible demeanor
  • Excellent communicator with strong multitasking skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to take initiative
  • Willing to work in partnership with hands-on parents and accept feedback
  • Tech-savvy and confident managing digital calendars and communications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • An undergraduate degree is preferred but not required.

 

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–8:00 PM
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed is appreciated.

 

Compensation

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience, $35-$38/hour
