Chief Operating Officer - The Family Credit Union
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the credit union. This hands-on leader ensures that operations align with strategic vision, regulatory compliance, and exceptional member service. The COO should be people-centric and foster a collaborative culture focused on operational excellence, risk management, and sustainable growth.
This full-time exempt position is located in Davenport, Iowa typically working Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide executive oversight of branch operations, member services, lending, ATM networks, and fraud prevention to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and develop key operational leaders, including directors of retail operations, branch operations, and fraud, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Partner closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to shape, align, and execute strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth and member value.
- Champion strategic innovation by evaluating industry trends, implementing process improvements, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, member satisfaction, and scalability.
- Serve as a visible, hands-on leader, proactively supporting teams and stepping in when necessary to maintain momentum and service continuity.
- Identify and implement opportunities to elevate the member experience through continuous feedback, process refinement, and frontline engagement.
- Provide coaching and operational guidance to staff across departments, reinforcing a member-centric and mission-aligned culture.
- Oversee the management and performance of the ATM network, ensuring security, reliability, and accessibility for members.
- Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to proactively address operational challenges and infrastructure needs.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational data, and drive initiatives to improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Regularly communicate operational updates, compliance matters, and risk assessments to the CEO, supporting transparent executive oversight.

- A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in credit union or financial services operations is required.
Reporting Structure & Culture
- This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), working as a key partner in shaping the strategic and operational direction of the credit union.
- The Chief Operating Officer will lead a cross-functional team within a growing credit union of 70 employees, with direct oversight of critical operational departments.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, with a strong preference for experience in the credit union sector.
- Extensive knowledge and direct oversight experience in operations, regulatory compliance, BSA/AML, OFAC, fraud prevention, and internal auditing.
- Proven track record as a hands-on, people-focused leader who fosters trust, accountability, and performance within diverse teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of credit union regulations, operational best practices, and member service standards.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex operational challenges and build cross-functional alignment.
