Bay Logistics is growing, and we’re looking for an energetic In-House Recruiter / Engagement Specialist to help us build and retain a high-performing team of forklift operators and warehouse associates.

In this role, you’ll be a key player in our HR team, managing hiring efforts and helping create a great workplace culture across our Coopersville and Spring Lake locations.

Position Summary:

Bay Logistics is seeking an energetic and people-focused In-House Recruiter & Engagement Specialist to support talent acquisition and employee engagement efforts at our food-grade warehouse facilities in Coopersville and Spring Lake, Michigan. This role will play a vital part in sourcing, hiring, and retaining high-quality forklift operators and warehouse associates. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and passionate about building strong teams and creating a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, screen, and schedule interviews for forklift operators, warehouse workers, and other hourly staff.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates using job boards, social media, referrals, community partnerships, and local job fairs.
  • Coordinate and conduct phone screenings, in-person interviews, and pre-employment assessments.
  • Manage job postings and applicant tracking systems.
  • Coordinate pre-employment background checks, drug screenings, and onboarding paperwork.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Assists with job posting and advertisement processes.
  • Collaborate with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions.
  • Lead new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure a positive first impression and smooth start.
  • Conduct stay interviews at 30, 90, and 180-day checkpoints to monitor employee satisfaction and address concerns early.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, wellness activities, and communication campaigns.
  • Track attendance and turnover trends and make recommendations to improve retention.
  • Act as a culture ambassador by promoting company values and fostering open communication with frontline staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in high-volume recruitment, preferably in warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with candidates and team members at all levels.
  • Experience with ATS software and job board platforms (Indeed, ZipRecruiter, etc.).
  • High level of organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on-site in both Coopersville and Spring Lake warehouse environments and interact with candidates and team members in person.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruiting for warehousing positions. 
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to talk on the phone with potential candidates and new hires.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • SHRM’s Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus.

Work Environment:

  • On-site in clean, temperature-controlled food storage warehouse environments.
  • Regularly walks warehouse floors and engages with hourly staff.
  • Some local travel may be required for community events or job fairs.
