NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Facility design and construction field or similar with minimum additional experience of 10 year(s) in Construction inspection

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS Outlook
Duties:

Construction Analyst will provide comprehensive advisory and technical services to Project Managers on a variety of substantive and/or complex projects, modify, adapt, and/or refine broader guidelines to treat or resolve complex and/or intricate project management issues and problems, and propose new practices to improve the management of projects. Reviews project plans and specifications prior to construction contract advertisement to verify the practicality of proposed construction. Knowledge of construction management tools and techniques, means and methods to confirm constructability and options

  • Inspect construction project for adherence with contract documents and industry standards.   65%
  • Communicate daily to COR and Project Manager of any deficiencies when not in compliance with the contract.   10%
  • Communicate daily to COR and Project Manager on status of work and any concerns, issues that need to be addressed.   10%
  • Track and route submittals/RFIs; review & provide recommended responses for submittals/RFIs.   10%
  • Review preliminary design, design, and construction documents (drawings, specifications, special studies/reports) for constructability   5%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Occasional trips to visit project sites within parks may be required. Estimate that travel will be a maximum of 4 nights per trip, with 1-2 trips per year maximum. Travel may require flights or via driving to remote locations.
  • Air travel anticipated: Once or twice per year
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Working knowledge of OSHA and building code requirements.

Work will primarily occur in an office setting, but may require travel to park sites including short hikes on uneven terrain and/or visiting construction sites.
