Qualifications:Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in developing compatibility determinations, NEPA documents, understanding of refuge policies, serving as a deputy or refuge manager or planner or equivalent, writing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
OR MA/MS Degree in Natural resource management, planning, policy OR Previously completed training in Refuge Improvement Act experience helpful - Organized, good communicator, strong writer, strong accountability with follow through as work will be highly independent, ability to learn and adapt to new policies and guidance. Experience as a Conservation Planner or equivalent, experience developing compatibility determinations, serving as NEPA documents and CCPs, step-down plans, or resource management plan-type documents.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word
- knowledge of GIS helpful but not required
Duties:Complete compatibility determinations (CD) and prepare associated National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documentation related to refuge management. Provide writing support for Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) and step-down plan development.
This work includes, but is not limited to, coordinating with the refuge and regional office to research, write, and revise planning documents and shepherd them through the review and approval process both internal and external (including public notices and comment periods). - Coordinate with individual refuges and regional office to complete CDs, NEPA documents, and step-down plans. This can include meetings, written and verbal communications, developing tracking and review procedures, etc. 25%
