NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in natural resources statistical analysis and design. OR PhD Degree in Quantitative Ecology, Biomathematics, Statistics

  • Understanding of monitoring protocol development, connecting objectives with survey design, understanding natural resource management statistical needs, statistical uncertainty and available resources can constrain design. Statistical background in natural resource management applications. Ability to clearly explain statistical concepts to non-statistical experts.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • R Studio, GitHub
Duties:

The biometrician will (1) provide statistical review of protocol design, analysis and reporting for high priority monitoring surveys; (2) develop analysis and reporting scripts as necessary to evaluate the monitoring objectives; (3) provide recommendations and summary reports of findings from the reviews. Mentor regional staff in developing analysis tools and evaluation methods.
