Animal Welfare Part-Time Kennel Technician
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, assists with the cleanliness of the shelter and the care and upkeep of the animals housed therein. May assist public with routine inquiries.
Major Responsibilities:
- Cleans common areas, cages, and kennels on a regular basis
- Supplies food, water, and personal care to detained animals
- Provides other animal needs as directed by shelter staff
- Takes phone messages and answers general questions
- Assists with grounds keeping needs such as trash removal, weeding, etc.
- Assists with stocking general supplies such as food, litter, etc.
- Assists guests with general inquiries and viewing of detained animals
- Assists other employees with general departmental functions
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge:
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid Class "D" Oklahoma Driver's license
- One to two years of experience handling animals
- Knowledge of City policy and procedures
- Knowledge of shelter regulations and guidelines
- Skill in the capture and transport of animals
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
- Ability to perform light maintenance
