Yard Laborer 

FT: M-F (7:30-4p)

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE MOVING EARTHMOVING EQUIPMENT  (LOADING, UNLOADING, POSITIONING, ORGANIZING)

Primary Responsibility Summary 

The Yard Laborer is responsible for managing equipment and yard operations, ensuring smooth and efficient handling of machinery and parts. This role involves recording equipment movements, performing inspections, maintaining yard organization, assisting technicians, and ensuring equipment is clean and ready for service. Assisting techs includes delivering parts both in the shop and in the field and may require driving company vehicle to deliver. The Laborer also supports parts management, handles loading and unloading of trucks, and assists with equipment demonstrations. Additional duties as assigned. 

 Reporting Structure 

  • Reports to Operations Manager, Service Advisor, or Service Manager (where applicable) 

 Travel Requirements 

  • Negligible, may occasionally travel for training

  • Accountable for the timely completion of DPO 

  • Responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness and presentation of the equipment yard

 Equipment Handling and Recording 

  • Manage the in and out movement of equipment. 

  • Record Delivery/Pickup Orders (DPO) accurately and ensure completion of the DPO process. 

  • Check equipment and attachments in/out according to standard procedures. 

 

Yard Maintenance and Organization 

  • Arrange and maintain the yard for optimal organization and efficiency. 

  • Organize and arrange the equipment yard systematically. 

  • Power wash equipment and ensure it is clean both interior and exterior. 

 

Technician Assistance and Preparation 

  • Assist technicians as needed, including delivering parts and equipment to them both in the shop and in the field using company vehicle for field deliveries. 

  • Prepare equipment for service according to service standards. 

  • Assist with equipment demonstrations as required.  

 

Parts Management and Cross-Training 

  • Assist with parts management as needed and participate in cross-training activities. 

  • Support parts department with various tasks as required. 

 

Loading and Unloading 

  • Safely load and unload trucks with equipment and parts. 

 Educational and Experience Requirements 

  • High School diploma or GED  

  • 6 months of heavy equipment operations  

  • Basic computer literacy 

  • Power/Pressure washing experience 

  • Fundamental knowledge of DOT regulations 

  • Ability to follow all OSHA safety, EPA regulations 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

This role involves working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, often exposed to dirt, dust, particles, and fumes. It frequently requires walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, and kneeling, and involves lifting items weighing no less than 25 pounds. Additionally, hand-eye coordination is essential for demonstrating equipment, along with dexterity for cleaning and inspecting equipment.
