Safety Administrative Assistant

Summary

Under the direction of and reporting to the Director of Safety, the Safety Administrative Assistant performs administrative and clerical functions related to Safety, DOT compliance, data verification and reporting.

 

Education and Experience

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma with coursework in word processing, computer applications, and office procedures.
  • Office administration work experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation safety regulations is preferred.
  • Two years previous experience in a Safety or Compliance environment is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).
  • Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Compile department data and translate into reports, ratios and graphs.
  • Partner with operations to complete driver related tasks such as class changes, transfers and certifications.
  • Review new driver applications and back ground checks.
  • Track and administer safety related award programs.
  • Schedule, prepare for and attend department meetings.
  • Partner with IS to identify and implement potential programming related upgrades.
  • Process department Purchase orders and other billing related duties.
  • As needed - acts as back-up to receptionist during breaks and absences.

  • Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours, and infrequent travel may be required.

This position performs work primarily in an office setting.

  • Constantly in a stationary position and occasionally will move around.
  • Constantly operates a keyboard and mouse and utilizes a computer monitor(s).
  • Converse with internal and external customers in person or via phone system.

Compensation & Benefits:

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $22.50 - $27.50. Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work . In addition to the hourly rate of pay, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.
