Dessert Holdings is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team at the HQ office in St. Paul, MN.   This is a key role in supporting and fostering the growth of Dessert Holdings by helping to build repeatable and sustainable processes and practices within accounting. This includes providing technical accounting expertise, assisting with financial reporting, and driving operational excellence.

This is not a remote position – we work onsite in the St. Paul office 4 days per week.

The typical hiring range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000 annually and is based on several factors such as education, work experience, skills, certifications, location, etc. In addition to pay, Dessert Holdings offers benefits such as a choice of comprehensive medical plans, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and retirement contribution to all eligible employees.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in managing the month end financial close activities including preparing necessary journal entries, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded and balance sheet reconciliations are completed each month
• Contribute to the development and preparation of regular management reporting and year-end financial statements
• Support the financial statement audit and coordination with external auditors
• Act as SME for technical account topics or adopting new accounting pronouncements across organization
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures
• Foster relationships across the organization by providing functional advice, accounting expertise, and training to staff and business partners
• Direct organizational enhancements of internal controls and accounting practices in support of PCAOB readiness
• Participate and represent Accounting/Finance in the implementation or modifications of company systems (ERP, HRIS, etc.) to ensure appropriate financial integrity, controls and audit trails exist for transactions impacting financial results
• Make recommendations for policy and procedure improvements to simplify and plan towards scalability.  Establish proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
• Completion of special projects, as requested

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• At least 5+ years related Accounting experience
• Consumer Packaged Goods/food manufacturing experience a plus
• Understand GAAP accounting principles and costing systems; CPA active a plus
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, complex ERPs (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Navision, JDEdwards, SAP)
• Agility in learning new software and ability to simultaneously manage multiple systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• High level of flexibility in dynamic environment
