Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking Standards Development Engineer to join our team.

Amphenol is seeking a Standards Development Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of high-speed interconnect technologies. In this role, you’ll represent Amphenol in leading industry standards bodies (such as IEEE, PCI-SIG, and OCP), ensuring our solutions remain interoperable, reliable, and performance-driven. You will collaborate closely with industry partners, customers, and internal teams to drive next-generation copper and optical interconnect solutions for applications like Ethernet, PCIe, and AI fabrics.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who wants to influence the direction of global standards, while working on advanced system architectures powering data centers, AI, and high-performance computing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Standards Leadership:
    • Define requirements for the performance, quality, and interoperability of interconnect solutions across the High-Speed Products Groups portfolio.
    • Develop system, component, and structure models to verify proposal proposals for performance metrics and compliance criteria.
    • Support collection, formatting, and processing of datasets to validate proposals for performance and quality metrics and interoperability and compliance for key customers and industry standards
    • Represent Amphenol in key industry standards meetings and conferences.
  • Technical Development & Validation:
    • Build and analyze system, component, and channel models to validate compliance and performance metrics.
    • Support interoperability and compliance testing for customer and industry validation.
    • Partner with R&D to align new designs with standards and troubleshoot/debug as needed.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy:
    • Work with industry partners, customers, and internal teams to ensure interoperability and standards alignment.
    • Promote internal adoption and ensure compatibility across relevant product lines and factories.
    • Work closely with Marketing teams to prepare and release promotional materials for new standards and technology aligned with major industry events (e.g. DesignCon, OFC, OCP Summit, etc.)
    • Support Field Sales with product roadmaps and compliance messaging across cross-functional teams.
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Prepare clear technical reports, proposals, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
    • Contribute to technical papers and represent Amphenol at conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in industry standards and related fields, ideally with high-speed products and applications.
    • Experience with data center architectures, such as spine-leaf and AI-fabric designs.
    • Experience with both copper and optical interconnects.
    • Knowledge of system-level bring-up, diagnostic, and
  • Technical Skills:
    • Conversant in Ethernet, PCIe, and related standards documentation.
    • Proficient in system, component, and structure modeling programs (e.g. ANSYS Suite, Matlab, Python, PCI-SIG Seasim, IEEE Channel Operating Margin (COM)).
    • Experience with interoperability testing tools and platforms.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and statistical approach to problem solving.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
    • Ability to work in cross-functional and dynamic team environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Comfortability and interest to prepare technical papers and present to large audiences.
    • Experience in AI-fabric or GPU interconnect architectures and test methods.
    • Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) processes and documentation.
    • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Compatibility (DFC).
    • Certification/extensive knowledge in Ethernet, PCIe, or other relevant standards.
